Interchange Area Managment Plan

The City of Wilsonville is working on an Interchange Area Management Plan - or IAMP - for the I-5/Wilsonville Road interchange. The purpose of the IAMP is to protect the function of the interchange and the state's investment
while providing capacity for current comprehensive plan land uses. It considers both land use and transportation facilities for a 20 year period.

The I-5/Wilsonville interchange is at capacity today, and experiences heavy traffic delays. Some of the main problems are:

  • I-5 Northbound exit ramp routinely queues back to mainline freeway during AM peak period
  • Short off-ramp length and lack of capacity and storage
  • Safety issue identified by ODOT
  • Wilsonville Road has extensive queues in both AM and PM peak periods
  • Eastbound vehicles queue toward the west in AM peak period (sometimes past railroad tracks)
  • Westbound vehicles queue toward the east in PM peak period (to Rebekah Street and sometimes to Town Center Loop East)
